The ABC, Fairfax, and most of the major media now are overrun with ‘woke’ topics- LGBT, gay marriage, the indigenous complaint industry, diversity, gender issues etc etc.   There is no discussion of anything else. There is no discussion of income inequality. There is no discussion of wages.  There is no discussion of taxation or corruption. There is just woke.

This has real consequences.  A good example was the WA treasurer, who undertaxed the miners by sixty billion dollars in that state, then immediately waltzed off to work- for a major WA mining company! And, naturally, all the press gallery ignored this conflict of interest and wrote fawningly about the ‘first indigenous mining director’ etc etc, just like the mining company PR release wanted them to.

The plutocrats and elites who rule us are delighted at the woke agenda.  It suits them perfectly. Large companies can loudly wring their hands in public about diversity, indigenous issues etc etc while, in the real world, paying no tax, getting free diesel, hiring immigrant farm slaves on $3 per hour, paying their board member mates 20m a year for nothing, polluting as they please etc etc.  The woke really are useful idiots for the superrich.

Actually, I’m being slightly too hard on the media, because there is ONE economic issue they do write about. That issue is immigration. They are all for it, fully and totally.  They, of course, kid themselves they are being all wise, progressive and woke by supporting it, when in fact they are supporting the greedy building , immigration and farmer lobbies, while forcibly holding down wages, supporting modern slavery (notably on farms) and destroying living standards.

The focus on ‘woke’ issues by our economic elites explains the contradiction of us sliding further and further into poverty for the 99.9% and plutocracy, while feeling we are in a ‘liberal’ ascendancy.  The more virtue signalling and smugness on our screens, the more poverty and awfulness in our real lives.

As we are forced to live in overcrowded cities, as our jobs and wages collapse to almost negative levels, as our hospitals simply fail to work at all…….well, our boards are diverse, and we got to vote on gay marriage and the republic- so its all ok!!!!

The greatest rort in Australian business is the multi million one given to the pharmacy owners- the Pharmacy ‘Location Rules’:

You are not allowed to set up a new pharmacy within 1.5km of an existing one. (There are exceptions for Pharmacies moving from one location to another; but of course such relocation doesn’t increase the overall number of pharmacies).

This rort, which was granted to existing Pharmacy owners who had licenses in 1990, is the greatest protected racket in the Australian economy. Imagine being in small business and being able to block anyone setting up a new business within 1.5km of where you already are!

Note this rule restricts Pharmacists from opening within 1.5km of an existing Pharmacy. This is important, because one of the biggest lies of the defenders of the 1.5km location rort is that they are trying to stop non-pharmacists owning/opening pharmacies. In fact, nobody is arguing for non pharmacists to own/operate pharmacies, they are saying that the location rules prevent employee pharmacists from opening their own businesses (unless they have the ten million bucks required to spend on an existing phamarcy license, of course)

This is why Pharmacy licenses cost many millions of dollars, and are only owned by greedy older pharmacists (most don’t even bother working anymore in the pharmacy). Why should they? They’ve got a guaranteed multi-million protected income stream, for life, and can object to any new pharmacy within 1.5km.

It also ensures that the employee pharmacists, the younger ones, are stuck working for $20 per hour (or less) for their laughing, greedy pharmacy owners. These young pharmacists will never be able to own their own pharmacy- as the licenses are worth many millions of dollars.

So we have an industry with a protected set of multi-multi-multi millionaire pharmacists at the top (who probably haven’t even worked as a pharmacy in thirty plus years), laughing at all the millions they are making, the customers they are ripping off, and above all the poor vulnerable young staff who will never be able to work for themselves, but only as slaves for their awful, greedy owners.

Naturally the Pharmacy Guild has lobbied all sides of politics carefully to keep this rort going. It is a complete scam. The politicians have all received (cough) ‘donations’ to support it; and, naturally, the press gallery never writes about it (as it involves a policy in the real world). The ‘free market’ thinktanks like the IPA etc of course haven’t written a word about it (they only believe in free markets for labor, unfortunately- business monopolies are fine).

If Pharmacy was liberalized the same way other businesses were (ie not giving greedy license owners the right to block competitors coming within 1.5km) its estimated every family in Australia would be better off by $10,000 annually. So that’s the equivalent of someone coming in, and stealing $10,000 annually from your netbanking by the pharmacy owners (and the coward corrupt politicians who let them do whatever they want).

This monopoly MUST be stopped NOW. Right now. No more 1.5km rule. Any qualified pharmacist who wants to open a pharmacy should be able to, the same way any qualified doctor can open a medical clinic. No talk of ‘compensation (oh please!) to the existing lazy license holders. In fact the existing license holders should be forced to pay compensation to the rest of us for the loss they have caused us due to this outrageous anti competitive rort.

Remove the 1.5km location rort now! It is a simple, criminal, act of theft against every Australian.

There are over two thousand media officers, press agents ‘communication professionals’ and PR officers working in the Victorian Health Department and Health system generally ()lets call them ‘media people’). They earn an average of 150k per year, when you add the on costs (super, benefits, infrastructure) they are each costing us 200k per year.  This is pure waste of 400m a year, for nothing.

None of these media people provide health services. None of them care for the sick, or, for that matter, mop a floor or prepare a bed. They wouldn’t know how to. They are literally parasites, who write out press releases and spin statistics in order to make the health minister look good.  In fact, these media people were used last year in a campaign to lie and misdirect about Victoria’s wave of infection to save the lazy labor health minister’s job – see link here. Their lies cost many lives.

Every single one of these media people should be IMMEDIATELY, without any discussion, at 9am tomorrow, deployed to the front lines as front health care assistant workers. They should be given a mop and bucket and taught to prepare beds, scan the staff, assist orderlies etc, assist patients. If the media people cannot cope, they should be sacked.  These media people are an insult to the rest of us and must be immediately deployed to the front lines. No ifs no buts. 

There has been an odd campaign in the western media for conflict with China since about 2019. Banners called ‘World War 3’ in online news sites etc etc. Why now?  

Its not because China is becoming more powerful- it is, but its on the same trajectory its been since the 1980s. Its rise is not unexpected. And its been a superpower since at least the year 2000.

And its not because China is becoming more aggressive; again, that was baked into the expectation of them becoming more powerful.

It is because China is swinging back toward communism.  Not fully, but they are interfering in the private market (billionaires being executed,  education industries being nationalized). And this is not permitted to happen by our elites.

Lets not have any illusions here, communism is a failed awful system which results in misery, mass killings and rule by bureaucrats.

But lets also not have any delusions about our hopeless system here. Australia is a plutocracy. Its run by the rich for the rich.  There is no redistribution – we get back in taxes what we pay out, begrudgingly.  The rich pay barely any tax- the miners next to nothing (unless you count the pathetic 5% royalties they sometimes pay and sometimes don’t.  And they don’t mind rewarding ‘labor’ treasurers for undertaxing them either).  Upward mobility has been a joke for forty years.

And now, the ordinary people of Australia are being forced to pay higher taxes and run higher deficits to pay for lavish defence spending, while our thieving rich (like 40bn thief Gina Rinehart, who is simply granted a government monopoly license over our minerals for a pathetic five percent royalty (no free market there) and usually pays no tax whatsoever). And of course, if China or anyone ever invaded, a self protecting bacillus like the Rinehart family would be the first to arrange terms with the invaders so they could keep their unearthed government provided wealth.

There are no real jobs, and no real industries. Remember all the talk about being ‘the clever county’? Always a joke. The signs of ruin and decay are all around.  Drug dealing, which I always view as a destructive and aberrant behavior (and still do) is now becoming literally the sole form of productive income for people in some areas, because there are no jobs.

Of course, layered over the top of this are our sneering media elites, constantly reporting about trivia and private life bubble bullshit from Canberra, or cheering on immigration to lower wages. Naturally, if there’s ever a serious proposal to reduce inequality or actually tax rich people they quickly close ranks to shut it down (see Mining Tax 2010 for further evidence).

Hospitals are collapsing, public schools are a joke, and the few stragglers with any assets desperately shove them into housing (the only investment- a passive and unproductive one, of course) that has any return in this country.

Australians are a collection of zombies who were told to do (and did!)  the right thing, now walking around in shock at the total rejection and failure in their lives.

So, go ahead and criticize China for going communist etc. But lets not pretend that the plutocratic alternative we’ve got is anything but ratshit.

Further to my post of last year– Victoria is financially insolvent. It had a deficit of 10bn for 2019-2020, and the deficit for 2020-2021 has come in at 14.9bn. Thats a cumulative deficit of nearly 25bn, or a current shortfall of $4,000 for every man woman and child in the state (also likely increasing by $2,000 per year). There is no way we can pay that off. Even if you tripled the immigration scam (which involves us grabbing 50k upfront from each migrant, but then having to deliver each extra person 500k in extra infrastructure over their lifetime – can you see the flaw in this plan?). And we’re now being squeezed anyway by the tidal wave of immigration we’ve had since 2005 (the one off payment has been banked, and these immigrants- who knew- are using up roads, hospitals and other infrastructure).

Its really bizarre. The state has flogged virtually all of what remained of its core assets- the Titles Office, set up PEXA a compulsory settlement scheme (and there are still real questions to be asked into how that was set up). Its privatized the monopoly port and now even VicRoads, and we look like setting up private road charging (Gee I wonder which large roads provider they’ll pick to toll us on roads already built?).

At the same time as this vicious far right privatization, we have also hired (and are sill hiring) an army of largely useless public servants. What they do is a mystery given most functions of government have been flogged off, what they main seem to do is virtue signal constantly while bringing in more ‘implementation plans’ and hire worthless $300 per hour consultants who steal your watch to tell you the time. There is nothing left for these bureaucrats to do (apart from create work for each other) yet they are still employed. Don’t bother applying for a job for them, however, as all jobs are ringfenced for their mates and relatives.

Oh well, as long as the wage and super are paid, what dues the lazy public servant care? They know they can’t be sacked.

We are bombarded with pointless feelgood ads from the Daniel Andrews government. Again, given they have flogged off virtually every aspect of government, what is it exactly they are trying to signal? A more accurate ad would be ‘Victoria. We’ve flogged off the Port, the Titles office, now the roads- but we’ve got wobbling chins when we do it so thats ok’.

Don’t think that there will be a natural reaction to all this, with mass sackings/spending cuts/or tax rises to pay for it all . Remember, there is no wise base of citizens who realize that you actually have to eventually balance the books. Everyone just acts in their own self interest, whinges about tax while voting themselves more and more largesse and jobs from the public purse; like lab rats pushing on a lever to get drugs until they die of it.

An absolute almighty bust is coming. Victoria is broke beyond words.

Warning. There’s normally a level of smug dismissiveness in articles about men who are single, who don’t want to be (pejoratively called ‘incels’) by the ‘woke’ media (ie most of it), but this piece on the (taxpayer funded) ABC website really takes the cake.

Just to remind you before you read it, we are talking about men who are unable to get dates with women who are resorting to surgery to make themselves look better. That’s it. That’s their crime. They correctly twigged to the fact that the dominant quality in getting a woman is physical appearance and they’re trying to do something about it.

And for this they are labelled ‘incels’ and ‘creeps’ and other horrible things, all because they’re trying to improve their chances of a date by changing how they look (‘how you look’ of course being, (when people are honest) the main way dates are obtained). If you are ugly, you can forget it, as the bitter but accurate song goes.

What the sneering, mainly female, commentators don’t realize, but ironically these men have, is that the real division in our society is not between men and women, but between pretty people and the ugly. According to the pretty people, ugly people should be happy with their lot. That is, happy being permanently single, happy to see other partner up and have children. Happy being the lowest on the social totem pole, the first to be fired, the last to be hired. The people at high school were right! Please just accept their decision!

Just you uglies hurry up and mentally adjust to dying alone.

And can we please please not have any of that crap that if you ‘fix your personality’ you’ll suddenly get more dates. People (both genders) don’t want personality- they want prettiness. This has been proved over and over again in study after study. People who never marry, don’t have kids, are overwhelmingly physically unattractive people. (Maybe the mockers see this as a good thing?) People pour a huge amount into being pretty, they pour zilch into becoming less attractive. Again, people of both genders. They do this because they know this is the only way to have success.

But the hypocrisy will go on. We’ll still make sure all who appear on TV are attractive. Those same people will deny up hill and down dale that they possess anything special -when they do. The rest of us will know the truth.

The real division in our society is between the pretty people, at the top, and the ugly people, at the bottom. The pretty people make far more money, are far advantaged in the job market, and are far more likely to start families. This is a far far bigger divisor than gender. The rest of us, according to the critics, should stop trying to do anything about our ugliness, apparently, because, well, its just wrong to attempt to have some of the same advantages that our pretty overlords were born with.

Well, I have news for them. Anyone with functioning eyesight can see the only way forward for many people is plastic surgery. And for ugly people, of all genders, to be mocked for trying to improve their appearances, when they have no other alternative, is beyond vile.

Human beings run on self interest, that’s it.  All of our institutions are run for the benefit of the people in it- they are exercising their self interest.

The world is full of collective action problems, which are unsolvable because nobody will do anything that is against their own desires.

Even you, right now, don’t want to read this, as you are looking out for your own self interest by as you browse this site, and it doesn’t advantage you, in fact it annoys you.

The following problems will never be solved: pollution, climate change, inequality, violence, business monopolies, everything.

Can we please stop being shocked when companies pollute to save money, people do terrible things etc etc. How did it happen? – they worked out they were in their self interest, then they did them.  The end.

When the internet started, I like many had vague hopes that injustice would be exposed and then fought. Injustice was exposed, but unfortunately, nobody gave a rats and either ignored it or rationalized it as not their problem. Self interest rules, so it goes, forever.

Also if you were suddenly made superrich you’d suddenly decide all taxes are evil and start demanding to pay none: so you know you’re just as bad.

Society is a thin mask of public spiritedness, which upon any stress reveals a self collapsing temporary alliance of narcissists.

As to solutions to all of this – there are none. We’re doomed, The End.

MacKenzie Scott, (ex wife of Jeff Bezos) has recently been donating billions to charity (actually physically donating it, ie giving it away, not just announcing a future intention). So yes, its a nasty self interested world generally; but can we please take a minute to applaud this.

Over 250,000 illegal immigrants a month are currently streaming over the USA border. The USA, virtually alone among any functioning (for now) nation on earth, does not guard its border – you are simply allowed to walk across, are detained- then released. Its now estimated there are twenty million illegal immigrants in the USA, shortly to rise to thirty million with even more on the way.

This invasion is being cheered on by both sides of politics- the Democrats (the elites and silicon valley billionaires that run it and fund it love cheap labor and piously preach anti-racism as a way of silencing any discussion of migration) and the Republicans (they love cheap labor straight up). The media are basically ignoring the invasion, because they love it too.

The real losers of this disastrous policy are the American citizens themselves. Whatever weak recovery in the US job market going on now is about to be completely crushed by this cheap worker invasion. The piffling pay rises recently of one or two percent are about to be completely destroyed by a tide of cheap illegal labor dragging wages for everyone (even white collar people) down to unprecedented lows.

Ordinary Americans have been almost totally silenced and intimidated on this issue by the elite media, who scream ‘racism!’ and jump on any American citizen who suggests that, maybe, just, it might be a good idea to enforce the country’s borders; given that the rule of law is meant to apply, and if you dont have borders, you dont have a country. The sneering at the wall is the equivalent of sneering at a homeowner who insists on locking his door.

Of course, the real racists here are the elites (and the media) pushing open borders. They couldn’t give a stuff about the immigrants, except in the most vile way imaginable- they want to exploit them. The same way they get housekeepers for a dollar a day, the same way they get compliant, silent, submissive tech workers on H1B visas working 100 hours a week for $9 per hour (and pretty much have a ‘no citizens’ hiring policy in silicon valley), they are chomping on the bit to exploit these illegal immigrants. Of course, there are other, darker forms of ‘after hours’ exploitation that employers also likely want – but, lets not go there.

Ordinary Americans MUST stand up against their sneering ‘we know whats good for you’ slavemaster elites demanding an open border. A wall should proceed, but more importantly, the border should be enforced (the same way it is enforced in virtually every other country). The elites in the US have now openly turned against the 99% of the legal population – denying them the right to work, denying them fair competition, demanding their country and standard of living be abolished so they can have their wage slave replacements imported. The middle class is a just a memory now for most Americans. America is being invaded and the elites are cheering them on. Will Americans stand up against them?

Quick update (23rd June2021). Nope, this is not the ‘Fox Agenda’. Yes, Fox News (thankfully) is the only media organization paying attention to the border, but its mainly as a way of criticizing Joe Biden; their concern for the worker is wafer thin (in fact it doesn’t really exist). The real issue here is that open borders is an attack on every worker in the US.

I thought the purpose of journalism was to investigate and write about issues. By writing about these issues, governments are held to account, corruption is uncovered and society works better.

Unfortunately, thats not what happens. The journalists quickly discover that the more they can make it about themselves, the more they can leverage their ‘brand’ to get more attention and a pay rise, (maybe even their own show or two?).

So they turn everything into a circus. They focus on personalities (which also puts the focus on themselves and their ability to gossip), ‘leadership challenges’ (note not policy discussions- but rather who gets to be the leader issuing press releases or reading the autocue), ‘background briefings’ where they quote gossip leaked to them by media mates about nothing. When they do discuss policy, its either completely irrelevant crap that economic elites don’t care about – (the republic, gay marriage), or its immigration (journalists universally support it, as it fits with economic elites’ interests).

This is not so bad with the commercial media, where someone else is paying the bill; and viewing is optional.

But its really sticks in my craw to see the ABC paying Annabel Crabb, its chief political reporter, 500k of taxpayer money, our money, a year, to produce, well, crap. Shows like ‘Kitchen Cabinet’ or her idiotic ‘back in time shows’ etc.

Corruption is thriving in Australia. Ministerial standards have collapsed, there are land deals, monopolies like PEXA being set up with ministerial mates, corrupt privatizations of land registries, massive inequality, exploitation of visa slave workers (which the press gallery cheer on), treasurers undertaxing miners by sixty billion then going to work for them, etc etc.

And clowns like Annabel ignore all that to make stupid shows about nothing. Which wouldn’t be so objectionable except for the fact she is held up as a political reporter who reports from politics, with Parliament house as her backdrop, and politicians talking, but never really about the issues. So she feeds the argument that politics are being reported on, wheras what we’re given is just trivia about nothing. Basically the ABC are saying ‘that’s all folks!’

Why oh why can’t our press report about the issues?
